Amitabha Recitation Retreat  25 Nov -1 Dec 2019

“In cultivation, investigating Chan [Zen] is just mindfulness of the Buddha, and mindfulness of the Buddha is investigating Chan.”

— Venerable Master Hsuan Hua, Listen to Yourself, Think Everything Over [Amitabha Recitation Edition]

Reciting the name of Amitabha Buddha is a meditative technique of the Pure Land tradition. Chan (Zen) meditation masters have long advocated the Pure Land as an essential & complementary practice to Chan meditation.

The simplicity and accessibility of this technique belies its profound effectiveness, which is why the Pure Land practice is the most widely practiced form of meditation in Asia.

During this retreat, we will investigate the Sutra on the Buddha of Infinite Life (also known as the The Larger Amitabha Sutra) in the evenings. The Sutra traces the life of Amitabha Buddha and is a crucial text in understanding the practice.

Come join us and experience how mindfulness of Amitabha Buddha may focus and brighten your mind.
